Appt, Highlights, Boy Toys

Jack's GI Appointment:
We had a follow up appointment with Jack's GI Physician's Assistant (PA). In the multiple visits we've been to that office, we've seen the doctor once...for maybe 3 minutes. But fortunately, the two PAs we've seen are great, wonderful women that we trust, so we're all good.

And not only are we good, but Jack is gaining weight!! When we started with the GI in April, Jack was 24.6 lbs. He is now 29.1 lbs. Almost 5 pounds in 4 months. In April, he was barely at the 3% for his age in weight and height. He is now in the 25% for weight. In the past month he gained 700 grams, which is about 17 grams per day. For his age, he should be gaining 4 to 10 grams per day, so that is proof he is catching up in weight. He is right above the 3% for height -- just making it to 3 feet tall (or 36 inches). His BMI is 15.5, which is between the 25% and 50%, so that is also tracking well.

It may seem as if I'm obsessed over this, but given the fact that he gained less than a pound between his 2 year and 3 year birthdays, it has been a concern for us. But now that he is gaining weight and eating, we now need to figure out how to get him to self-feed at the table without being totally distracted with toys.... if it isn't one thing, it is another!

Highlights Magazine:
Anyone? Anyone willing to take credit? Jack received Highlights
magazine in the mail the other day and loves it. This edition is filled with Hidden Pictures -- where you have to find objects within pictures. He loves it and it getting very good at finding the objects; either that or his memory is very good and remembers where they all are!

But here is the thing... we can't figure out who got him the subscription. We've asked our siblings and parent, and nope. Maybe Santa just came early to our house!

Boy Toys:
Growing up, I always imagined having girls. So when Jack came along, I was at a loss with what boys play with. Over the past 3 years, I've purchased and played with more boy toys than I ever had prior to Jack. Every type of ball, trains, airplanes, trucks, cars, etc. And then Brooke came... and played with the gender-neutral baby toys. Now that she has outgrown most of those, she has moved onto her brother's toys. See below clips -- really watch the end of the clip with her throwing the ball to Scott!

  1. Wow! Just love seeing the updates on how the kids are doing. It's wonderful to see that Jack is catching up in weight. And what an arm Brooke has!

    Thanks for sharing!
