1st year of preschool

I can't believe it was 8 months ago that Jack started preschool for the 1st time. I was so sad to see him go off to school - watching him grow up. And he really has grown up and learned so much this past school year... his letters, numbers, writing his name, singing all sorts of songs, tracing, drawing himself, the list goes on and on.

We had his year-end party last week and we got a mini-photo album of pictures from school. I love it - seeing the big milestones at school, seeing him with his friends - what a great way to recap the year.

And Jack even got his 1st report card... it's scoring is a check mark for "meets expectations", an * for "is attempting" and if left blank, that means "no interest shown". There are 56 line items that he got scored on that fall into these 7 buckets: Social Development, Creative Development, Personal Development, Verbal Development, Cognitive Development, Physical Development and Large Motor Skills. The line items he was rated on (in those category) are things like: made friends in school, explore art media. shows self-confidence, speaks clearly, knows name/age/gender/body part, counts to 15, coordinate hand/eye movements, climbs, jumps, etc.

He got all check marks except for 1 item that he got an * for... which was "pronounces words clearly". Well, if you ask me, that is an A report card since some of the words he doesn't clearly pronounce are sounds that typical 4 year olds aren't suppose to be able to do.
