After a year and a half of being a stay-at-home-dad, Scott has gone back to corporate life. Unfortunately, Grandma Patti has since retired so we found another home day care / preschool place close to home - with Mrs. Angela. This is still a loving home environment, but it also incorporate a few hours a day of preschool curriculum - learning letters, numbers, colors, shapes, writing, etc. Mrs. Angela also take the kiddos out on activities such as movies, parks, library, zoos, etc.
Both kiddos will be going there full time during the summer (except for when I take off work for vacation). Once school starts for Jack in September, he'll be going to St. John's school 2 full days a week (increased from 2 half days in the 2009 - 2010 school year) and then 3 days at Mrs. Angela's. Brooke will continue full time with Mrs. Angela's during the school year.
We've had a week under our belt of managing 2 full-time-working-out-of-the-home parents. Jack is still weepy/crying during drop off but okay as soon as we leave. He has a little issue with eating lunch and breakfast there (snacks aren't a problem). Brooke does fine at drop off but is weepy/crying when we pick up -- it is as if she has had a long day but holds it all in and then just breaks down when she sees us and just wants to be held. She is also adjusting to napping there -- on a cot, next to other kiddos instead of being by herself in her own room. There have been a couple days where she just didn't nap which made for long evenings of grumpiness. We know it will take a while for the kiddos to adjust.... and probably longer for us to.
Bubble day at day care, learning the letter B.
