Before we moved into the house, we thought about having the house painted... but decided not to for several reasons. We decided we would wait until after we moved in, sold the townhouse, got a feel for the new house and took the time to pick out the colors. Although sound thinking at the time... the week it took to paint the house - we wished we had done it before we moved in.
Scott did all the research - vetting 6 different painters, getting more paint color samples than I care to admit and coordinated the whole project. Looking back, it makes sense what happened, but we just didn't fully realize just how much it would affect our daily lives. The painters stared on a Tuesday and we literally didn't have access to any rooms downstairs until Friday. On Friday, we had access to downstairs - expect for the laundry room and kitchen, but then didn't have access to the kids room, upstairs bathroom or office. We literally lived out of our master bedroom. Friday the kids spent the night at our neighbors since their room was unlivable. By Saturday, we had access to all of the house - everything was done except our room. It was Memorial weekend so we told them to wait until Tuesday and just come back then to finish. It was a long, stressful process but we are so happy with the results!
