Preschool orientation

Even though I did the paperwork to get Jack enrolled in preschool, it didn't really hit me that he was going. Even when my friends where sending their 3 year olds off to preschool for their first time, it still didn't hit me that my baby boy was going to preschool and what this entailed. Scott went to parent orientation so perhaps that would have been a good indication for me, but no....

We took Jack to his preschool orientation today - a half an hour set time for parents to bring their child to school to see their classroom, meet the teacher, get their bearings. Overall, it was a great orientation - Jack did amazing, although I now have a sinking feeling in my tummy... it finally hit me that Jack IS going to preschool; going
somewhere new, on his own, growing up and will have experiences that we aren't there for. :( I know it is all good but wasn't it just yesterday he was placed in my arms forever?

We got there at our time slot and there was a bunch of people there. We found the classroom (#3) and met the teacher. Jack went to play with all the toys (we had Brooke in the stroller). We met a couple other parents; who also have boys who are into trains. Happily, the couple other boys we saw were about the same size at Jack. Jack played in just about all the little areas of the classroom, getting to know it. He even went tinkle so he knows how to use the toilet, flush, wash his hands and dry them.
Eventually everyone else did leave so we had a little time alone with the teacher. There are 13 kids in his class (Jack included), split down the middle of boys and girls. Nine are half days (like Jack); only 4 are full days. Jack played a little outside in the playground and then we went over to visit Father John. When we walked back to the car, Jack started to cry because he didn't want to leave -- he wanted to go back to his classroom and play.

Take good care of my baby boy Mrs. Sneathen!
