2nd Visit to the Dentist

The kids had their 2nd visit to the dentist today; just an exam for Brooke but Jack's 1st cleaning. The kiddos were playing in the waiting room and the second we got called back, they both swarmed to me, clinging to me. Brooke was stuck to me and Jack just held my hand. When we got to the back room, I had to pry Brooke off of me and she started to cry just because I handed her to Scott. She stopped crying when she saw that I had Jack in the dentist chair with me. But she still clung onto Scott during Jack's entire cleaning and exam.

Jack did great for his 1st cleaning, although he didn't like the water or the suction so he didn't do that -- he just rinsed and spit on his own with a cup in a sink. He laid down on me and kept his mouth open for the cleaning and exam. As soon as he was all checked out by the dentist, he went to pick out his toy - a matchbox sized plane.

Brooke, started to cry again when it was her turn for the exam and crying just about the whole time the dentist looked in her mouth. By the time the dentist was done, Brooke realized it was okay and stopped crying. Jack took Brooke to go pick out her toy and persuaded her to also get a toy plane!

Neither kid had cavities so that is great. We have to keep on top of flossing with Jack because his mouth is already crowded. And we'll wait to do a cleaning for Brooke until her 2 year molars come in and we know more about her heart condition (if it closes on its own this year, we'll wait for that to happen because if it doesn't close she'll need to take antibiotics before a cleaning).
