I went to New Orleans to meet up with 3 amazing women. We met through adoption (all of us adoptive Moms) years ago and have started a tradition of getting together in a new city every year. We took a carriage ride through the French Quarter, had drinks and ate amazing food, took the trolly to the Garden District and just enjoyed each others company.
Spending the weekend without husbands or children is a sort of freedom (not worring about schedules, nap time, bringing snacks, etc.). As is just having adult conversation. But wouldn't you know... throughout the whole weekend, we were still focused on our children -- so much so that we were taking pictures of things we knew our children would like: silver fire hydrant, ambulance, police car, John Deer truck, train tracks.

I guess not matter how much you value the friends in your life, your children are aways with you.
