Parent-Teacher Conference

We had Jack's parent-teacher conference today - the 2nd one of the year. Last time we had a nice long chat with Mrs. Bartolatta and she only said wonderful things about Jack. This time we had to reschedule for a quick meeting after school (because we missed the regularly scheduled meeting due to Scott being in the hospital). Although it was short, it was a great meeting. Again, Mrs. Bartolatta only had wonderful things to say about Jack. For his age, he knows all the shapes, number recognition up to 10 and letters of the alphabet. She was impressed that he could right his first and last name both in upper and lower case by sight (not copying) -- apparently not many kids in class can do that. She said he is doing great socially, hanging with all the boys (who are all bigger than him) and keeping up with them.

We talked briefly about him going to our public school for kindergarten. She said he'd do great but we did talk about the fact that since he is so good with paying attention, doing what he is told and academically on par, that he may get looked over because he isn't causing trouble. I guess if you are going to have a problem, better it is that your son is so good he isn't getting enough attention vs. being so bad he gets all the attention.
