Scott and I took last Friday off from work to make it a three day pack-filed weekend.... trying to squeeze everything in before the summer runs out. I took both kiddos to Pretend City and they LOVED it. Really, really loved it. Pretend City is a warehouse that set ups play areas that mimic a city... so you have a harbor, restaurant, police station, theatre, garden, restaurant, grocery store, library, construction zone, etc. Kids can move from one area to the next, pretending to be a chef, waiter, clerk, fireman, construction person, etc. My kiddos did great - sticking together and playing together. Their favorite place was the art center.
In the afternoon, we went to the Del Mar race track to watch the horse races. We were there for 3.5 hours and the kids did amazingly well. Races were every half hour and Brooke esp. loved it. She'd cheer as the horse came around the track right in front of us, hands up, yelling and all. It was really fun to just watch her.
Saturday we ran errands, baked cookies and then spent the evening at Scott's sister's house for her husband's birthday. It was a nice, relaxing Cole family evening, watching the 5 cousins play together.
Sunday the kids and I (Scott stayed home) went to the OC Fair with my friend Kristine and her two older boys. Her oldest son, Brady, goes to school with Jack and her second, Noah, is 3 months older than Brooke, so our kids play really well together. Jack even went on the rides (which he has never wanted to do). All the kids played the carnival games and each kid won a stuffed animal. Actually, Brady won the first one… and the second one. But then gave the 2nd prize to Jack. Then Jack won a prize and gave that to Brooke. And Noah won his own. So all 4 kids got their own stuffed animal to bring home and learned a little about paying it forward and good-deeds.

Sunday night I went to dinner with some girlfriends and saw Pageant of the Masters -- which was awesome. Think paintings with real people in them. Scott had the evening alone with the kids and they had some quality and fun Daddy-time.
