Two years ago, my cousin coached his son's soccer team and asked us to sign Jack up. You had to be 4 to start, but they let Jack in at 3 years and 10 months. It was probably a mistake to sign him up that early.... there would be the ball, then the crowd of kids following the ball, then Jack following the crowd of kids while kicking over the orange cones.
Recently, Brooke has been watching Jack play tball and in the back fields are the soccer games. She asked us if she could play soccer and when I went to sign her up, Jack said that he wanted to play too. Fortunately, the division they are in, has kids born in 2006 (Jack) and 2007 (Brooke). So both kids are on the same team this season!
Our first game was today and it was amazing! Brooke, although the youngest, was right in there with the kids - kicking and running around. We did have to explain to her when to sit out, when to go into the game and to not walk out in the middle of a game. But she had a ball playing and did amazingly well for her very first organized sport. Jack, was a very different little boy than two years ago. Not only was he was right in there, he kept asking to go back into the game. And he scored the first and last goals of the game, which they did win!
