Brooke's soccer

Brooke was on two soccer teams last year - her first team sport. She was on the same team as her brother, which I do think she enjoyed but it didn't give her much opportunity to shine on her own. But boy did she shine during her first soccer practice/game this year!

Winter soccer started the last Sunday of January but it got rained out. So the first Sunday of February was the first practice/game. Brooke was up and dressed in her uniform before 7am - she was a tad excited! The coach is a good friend of ours, but he was out of town for the weekend and asked Scott to be the head coach for the day. Brooke loved the idea of her Daddy being the coach.

She did well during the practice, as all the kids did. When the game started, we had a few kids shy away from playing, but not Brooke. She was right in there, right in the middle of everything - elbowing her way in - literally. And then she did it -- she scored the team's first goal! She was just beaming, so happy, so proud! Jack went running onto the field to give his sister a congratulatory hug. And then to top it off, she scored the second goal as well! Seems we have a budding soccer star on our hands!
Since it was the first game, the parents on the sidelines were still learning who was who, who belonged with who, etc. So I overheard several comments about Brooke.... she really gets in there, she is really good, she has no fear, look at her go, she is our super star!
